*) We're back at the HIGHBALL on Wednesday August 10 & 17 firing on all cylinders with Black Red Black (Ephraim Owens, Red & Brannen Temple). It will be nice to work our trio after Brannen and I return from Europe!!

*) I'll be back at SCAT JAZZ LOUNGE in Ft Worth on Saturday August 20 at Scat with my Organ Trio - Mike Malone/sax and John Bryant/drums.. Always Fun at SCAT!!

*) I'm starting a HAMMOND HAPPY HOUR at Caffee Medici 2222 Guadalupe in Austin (22nd Street across from UT) EVERY Wednesday from 5-7pm with Brannen Temple. When I'm not there, there will be the best Hammond organ players in Austin (and we've got a few). On the 4th Wednesday of the month (June 29. July 27, August 31, etc) there will be an Open Jam Sessions hosted by Paul Klemperer from 8-10pm. This is a GREAT Venue (one of my Hammond Organs Lives there now) and music friendly.

*) I'll be at the EDDIE V's in Austin on 5th Street Downtown with my Piano Trio August 11 from 7:30-11:30pm and at the EDDIE V's in Ft Worth on 7th Street August 21 from 6-10pm.


Regular Gigs


I will be doing the ELEPHANT ROOM JAZZ JAM hosted by Mike Mordecai from 9:30pm-1:30am every other Monday and on other occasions as well. I'm the house piano player which means I'm there for the entire gig, but depending on what piano players show up, I may not play except the first hour or so and then every so often through the night (sometimes it feels like Mike goes to the bullpen for the left-hander if a difficult song or odd key with a singer requires me to play on that particular number). I have a lot of hang time and there are always good new musicians in town so I'm able to talk and listen to players as well. Come on down!

EVERY TUESDAY from 10:15pm - 1am at the CONTINENTAL CLUB GALLERY upstairs from the CONTINENTAL CLUB on Congress Avenue in South Austin with Ephraim Owens Experience - Brannen Temple on drums and Red Young on Hammond B3. Red & Brannen will be holding down the fort when Ephraim is out of town on tour with Mumford & Sons and then SHERYL CROW along with horn-section mate Shelley Carrol.

Every Wednesday Black Red Black has a residency at THE HIGHBALL at 1142 South Lamar in Austin (512) 383-8309 next to the ALAMO DRAFT HOUSE. BRANNEN TEMPLE/drums, EPHRAIM OWENS/trumpet and RED YOUNG/Hammond B3.. We havea new album out with this group and are starting to get quite a reputation around as playing the "Real Thing". Come on out and see for yourself...
